Centrifugal Spray Dryer Description

The atomizer centrifugal spray dryer is a wide applied process in liquid process shaping and drying industry. Particularly it is suitable for producing powder, granule or block solid product from solution, emulsion, suspending liquid and pumped paste liquid. Therefore when the distribution of granule size, final moisture, bulk density, granule shape of finished product must be conformed to accuracy standard, the spray drying is an ideal process.

Centrifugal Spray Dryer Feature 

  1. The spray drying speed is fast. After the material liquid is atomized, the surface area is greatly increased. In the process of contact with the hot air, 95%-98% of the water can be evaporated instantly, and the drying time only takes a few seconds, which is especially suitable for the drying of heat-sensitive materials.
  2. The product has good uniformity, fluidity and solubility, high purity and good quality.
  3. The production process is simplified and the operation and control are convenient. For liquids with a moisture content of 40-60% (up to 90% for special materials), it can be dried into powder products at one time, without crushing and screening after drying, reducing production procedures and improving product purity. The product particle size, bulk density and water content can be adjusted by changing the operating conditions within a certain range, and the control and management are very convenient.
  4. Particle size control: The dry particle size can be easily controlled by atomization of the liquid feed and the design of the hot gas inlet. This spray dryer can typically produce between 30 to 500 micron average particle size, in a bell-shaped distribution.
  5. The evaporative cooling of product: The heat and mass transfer during drying occurs in the air and vapor films surrounding the droplet. This protective envelope of vapor keeps the particle at saturation temperature. As long as the particle does not become “bone-dry”, evaporation is still taking place and the temperature of the solids will not approach the dryer outlet temperature.
  6. Short residence time: The surface area produced by atomization of the liquid feed enables a short gas residence time, ranging from 3-10 seconds depending upon the application, which permits spray drying without thermal degradation.
  7. Flow properties of dry product: The shape of most spray-dried particles is spherical, which provides for fluid-like flow properties. This makes many downstream operations, such as packaging, pressing, filtering, and handling easier and less costly.
  8. Size design of drying chamber: The size of drying chamber is specially designed to prevent droplets sticking to the inner wall, dried powder accumulating on the cone part and guarantee enough residence time.
  9. The centrifuge spray dryer is composed of material inlet pump, air filter, blower, atomizer disk, drying chamber, cyclone separator, exhaust fan and freezing dehumidifier, electronic control cabinet. The whole machine is made of SUS304 material and the whole process is fully automatic controlled by PLC.
  10. Before quotation, clients need to provide material name, the raw material shape( powder, paste, flake, block or liquid), after drying, the material shape( powder, micro powder), raw material initial moisture content, dry material moisture content requirement, material PH value, density or viscosity, Max. temperature can withstand, heating source, and raw material feeding capacity.

Food industry: fat-rich milk powder, gluten, cocoa milk powder, milk substitute powder, blood hunting powder, egg white (yellow) powder, etc.

Food and plants: oats, chicken juice, coffee, instant tea, flavored meat, protein, soybean, peanut protein, hydrolysate, etc.

Fruit and vegetable processing industry: coconut powder, banana powder, ginger powder, tomato powder and other fruit vegetable powders.

Sugars: corn syrup, corn starch, glucose, pectin, maltose, potassium sorbate, etc.

Centrifugal Spray Working Principle 

After filtering and heating, the air enters the air distributor on the top of the dryer, and the hot air enters the drying chamber evenly in a spiral shape. The material liquid passes through the high-speed centrifugal atomizer at the top of the drying tower, and (rotating) sprays into very fine misty liquid beads, which can be dried into finished products in a very short time in co-current contact with hot air. The finished product is continuously output from the bottom of the drying tower and the cyclone separator, and the exhaust gas is evacuated by the fan.
