Peanut Butter Processing Line Description

Peanut butter is a nutrient-dense food rich in protein, healthy fats, vitamins (E, B3, B6), and minerals (magnesium, potassium, phosphorus), and it is widely used in baking, cooking snacking.

The peanut butter processing involves fresh peanut roasting to enhance flavor and reduce moisture, then cooling down the peanut to room temperature, after that, the fraction will peel the peanut, and then the peanut will be fed into a colloid mill and ground into the paste, then the peanut paste will be pumped into the mixing tank, in mixing tank, the salt, oil, sugar and stabilizer will be added to mix these ingredients evenly, after mixing, the peanut butter can be homomogenized to get more smooth texture, then the peanut butter will be filled into the PET or glass jars, cans or other containers. To extend the shelf life of the end products, the peanut butter in containers will be pasteurized in tunnel pasteurizer and then packed into cartons.

The capacity for peanut butter processing is from 200kg/h-5,000kg/h, and the end products can be filled into plastic jars and glass jars.

The ingredients for peanut butter processing includes sugar, salt, oil, stabilizer, emulsifier, and the end products can be made into the salt flavor and sweet flavor.

To increase the shelf life of the peanut butter products, the peanut butter can be pasteurized before or after filling into the containers. And during the mixing process, the peanut can also add some stabilizers. With these measurements, the peanut butter shelf life can reach 12-24 months at room temperature.

Peanut roasting machine

The peanuts are directly lifted by the elevator to the hopper of the roasting and cooling machine. The feeding hopper is equipped with a material distribution device to ensure uniform feeding of the materials. Then the peanuts are evenly spread on the conveyor belt and transported to the baking and cooling machine for baking. The equipment has baking and cooling functions. The roasting part adopts a hot air circulation system, with precise temperature control and uniform roasting. The roasting temperature of peanuts is usually set between 120°C and 140°C, and the roasting time is maintained for 5 to 8 minutes. After roasting, use cold circulation air to cool the peanuts to room temperature.

The peanuts are lifted to the hopper of the peeling machine by the elevator, and the peanuts are fed into the peeling rollers by vibration. The peanut kernels and skins are completely separated after squeezing, and the skin suction device sucks away the red skin of the peanuts to achieve the purpose of peeling. The peanut germ is screened out by the screening mechanism. The half-peanut kernels are manually picked out of the bad peanuts through the picking belt to avoid affecting the flavor of the peanut butter, and the capacity is about 600kg/h.

Peanuts can usually be ground into peanut paste using a colloid mill. The shear force, friction and high-frequency vibration between the high-speed rotating rotor and stator grind the peanuts into an extremely fine paste. During the peanut butter grinding process, RO-purified water needs to be added to the colloid mill. Generally speaking, the ratio of peanuts to purified water is 8-15:1.

Peanut butter preparation and mixing tank

The peanut butter preparation and mixing tank is essential in the production process to mix ingredients like ground peanuts, oils, sweeteners, and stabilizers uniformly. It also ensures the desired consistency and quality of the final product. This mixing tank has the following features:

  1. The mixing tanks are made of SUS304/316L food-grade material to meet hygiene standards.
  2. Tank can be made into the vacuum type, so when mixing all the ingredients, no air will be mixed into peanut butter and extend the shelf life of end products.
  3. As the high viscosity of peanut butter, the agitator of the mixing tank can be equipped with center paddle agitator + scrape wall agitator(0-60rpm) to mix all the ingredients evenly.
  4. The mixing tank has jacket, which can heat and cool down the peanut butter when feeding with hot water or cooling water. When heating the material to 75-80℃, when for mixing, it has the pasteurization effect.

Peanut butter homogenizer 

Some manufacturers make delicate and smooth peanut butter, so we can use the homogenizer to realize this function. The high-pressure homogenizer can break down and evenly disperse peanut solids, oils, and other ingredients to create a uniform emulsion with 10-30Mpa.

The peanut butter can be filled into jars by liner-type piston filling machines, these filling machines can equip the flowmeter and servo motor to increase the filling accuracy. To extend shelf life of end products, during filling, the aluminum foil sealing and capping can be adopted to prevent air coming into containers; and we can also dose liquid nitrogen into the containers to make great sealing performance.
