Avocado Oil Processing Plant Description

Avocado oil is extracted from the fresh fruit of the avocado. It is a very valuable oil for cosmetics, and it can also be processed into edible oil. The weight of avocado single fruit is 150g-1500g, the flesh is thin, but the edible rate is  70%-80%, the fruit ripening period is August-September. The fruit contains 20%-30% fat and 1.25% protein. Avocados are planted in tropical and subtropical regions all over the world. They originate in Mexico and Central America. At present, they are mostly cultivated in the southern United States, Guatemala, Mexico and Cuba, and have formed four major categories: Mexico, Guatemala, West India and Africa.

The avocado oil production process includes fresh avocado washing, peeling, depitting and pulping, avocado mash malaxing, oil centrifuge extraction, clarification and refining to get the virgin avocado oil.

The avocado oil processing plant capacity is from 200L to 5000L per hour, and the refined virgin avocado oil can be filled into PET/glass bottles, glass jars, cans or other consumable containers.

The avocado oil processing machine is made of SUS304 material, and it can guarantee food hygiene requirements.

Avocado Cleaning and washing machine

The purpose of washing avocados is to remove dust, sundries, and pesticide residues. Usually, it can be washed twice with a bubble washer and a brush washer. In order to save the consumption of washing water, the fruit is washed with circulating water. In addition, during the cleaning process, it can also be equipped with a high-pressure nozzle to improve cleaning efficiency and effect. After cleaning, the avocados are transported to the peeling and depitting equipment through the elevator.

The peeling, pitting and beating process of avocado can be completed on one piece of equipment, and the pulping machine screen precision size is 1mm, through this machine, the peel and the stones will be separated and avocado mash is sieved by the screen to the mash receiving tank.

The main purpose of the malaxing process is to make the avocado oil easier to separate in the subsequent traditional pressing or centrifugal separation oil-making process, and improve the quality of the oil. At the same time, it can also play a role in heat dissipation. The malaxing time and temperature are 20-40 degrees Celsius/30-60min.

There is a horizontal shaft in the malaxing machine, a set of stainless steel belt-type stirring scrapers are installed on the shaft, and there is an annular stainless steel insulation chamber outside. In order to ensure the best mixing effect and avoid oil emulsification, the stirring rotating shaft speed should not exceed 20r/min. The scraper blade on the rotating shaft ensures that the avocado mash is fully mixed, and the scraper continuously scrapes the mash off the wall of the blender, which is more conducive to the utilization of the heat exchanger and reduces the overheating of the mash. The rotation of the belt-shaped rotary scraper squeezes the mash towards the discharge port, and the malaxed avocado mash is transported to the next separation section through the discharge gate valve.

The horizontal decanter centrifuge is used to extract, clarify and separate avocado oil from the avocado mash, and is the key equipment for avocado oil extraction. At present, most of them use three-phase centrifugation. During centrifugation, 40%-50% of pure water needs to be added, fruit mash occupies about 45%, oil yield is 25%, and the centrifuge speed is 3000RPM.

The avocado oil is polished by one disk stack separator after coming from three-phase decanter centrifuge, the stack separator can separate the oil from any residual solids and water, and the separating precision is much higher than the decanter separator. When polishing the oil, pure water will also be added to three phase disc separator to achieve the best separation effect.

The refining process currently includes five main processes: degumming, deacidification, dehydration, decolorization, and deodorization. These processes can separate and remove impurities in the above oils and fats and control them within the range allowed by national standards.

Avocado Oil Degumming: the colloidal impurities in crude oil are mainly phosphorus. The presence of colloids such as phospholipids not only reduces the quality of oil, but also promotes the transitional emulsification between oil and lye in the process of alkali refining and deacidification, increasing the difficulty of separation of saponins and the loss of neutral oil. Therefore, it should be removed first.

Preheat the crude oil to about 60 °C, then add phosphoric acid with an oil weight of 0.12 % and a concentration of 85 %, mix well, add 3 % hot water at 60 °C, and start stirring at a speed of 55 r/min. When the phospholipids form small particles, slow down the stirring speed to 15 r/min. When the phospholipid dots are clearly separated, stop stirring, and remove the phospholipids that have become micelles to obtain clear oil.

Deacidification and decolorization of avocado oil: Add lye to the obtained avocado crude oil to remove the organic solvent in the crude oil, wash with warm water until neutral, absorb and decolorize into a colorless liquid, filter, and the obtained filtrate is avocado oil, pale yellow in color.
